IDology Launches ExpectID Number Verification, Enabling Real-Time Mobile Number Verification and Improved Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) Compliance

– New solution allows organizations to reduce unnecessary calls and potential regulatory penalties –

ATLANTA, Feb. 3, 2016 – IDology, a leader in multi-layered identity verification and fraud prevention solutions for the customer-not-present environment, today announced the addition of ExpectID® Number Verification to the ExpectID solutions suite.

ExpectID Number Verification works through a batch upload and is able to verify numbers prior to customer contact by accessing more than 750 million mobile numbers in real-time directly from mobile network operators (MNOs). Easy to understand results are returned indicating if the number is ok to call, not ok or indeterminable. Another benefit of ExpectID Number Verification is that the solution does not rely on personal identifiable information (PII) to verify the number, further simplifying the process.

“With the mobile channel becoming the most popular way to contact customers, it is critical for organizations to have a solution in place to verify mobile numbers and mitigate risk,” said John Dancu, chief executive officer of IDology.

According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), consumer complaints related to unwanted calls are the largest category of complaints received by the commission. The FCC stipulates in the TCPA that express written consent is required for pre-recorded and auto-dialed calls and text messages sent to a mobile number – this includes accidental calls or calls made in good faith to an incorrect number.

Today, TCPA violations regularly exceed $10 million industry-wide and fines can be as high as $1,500 per violation for contacting the wrong individual. “ExpectID Number Verification is a simple and effective way for organizations to help ensure that the contact is in compliance with TCPA,” said Dancu.
