Pax Technology, Inc., has introduced point-of-sale solutions to enable small business owners to be more efficient, Heather Hatch, vice president of business technology, tells Mobile Marketing & Technology.
Hatch will be a panelist at the 2017 Mobile Payments Conference Aug. 28-30 at the Swissôtel in Chicago, Ill.
The Android-based solutions enable small business owners to use their devices for photo taking, bookkeeping and other business applications, rather than simply serving as EMV-enabled, payment-taking devices, Hatch says.
“At many small businesses, the owner is performing all of these tasks himself. With the Pax solutions, the owner can do more than just payments,” Hatch explains. “This gives the owner the bells and whistles provided by more expensive devices while still keeping payments secure [through the use of EMV]. There are still a lot of businesses out there with old equipment that doesn’t do anything more than take payments.”
In order to compete effectively, the small business owner needs his or her POS device to offer many of the same features as those used by the big box retailers, but at a much lower cost, Hatch adds.
Windows and IOS-based solutions will be added sometime in the second half of 2018, according to Hatch. “Right now our focus is on the Android solutions.”
