Mobile Display Ad Forecast
Credit first smartphones with bigger screens and now tablet devices for spurring what appears to be a major upswing in video advertising. Last year, video ads only made up $12 million of the $220 million spent on mobile advertising in the U.S., according to research firm IDC.
In 2010, the money spent on video advertising is projected to reach $90 million, out of a total $498 million spent on mobile ads.
By 2014, video is expected to make up $485 million, or about 27 percent, of $1.8 billion of mobile device advertising.
Some observers think video could, or will, emerge as the “premium” form of mobile advertising, the Wall Street Journal reports.
